Annual Grant Programs

Applications for all annual grant programs are only accepted online.

Our priority areas of focus for our programs:

Boost community development:

Job skills training and placement; initiatives to promote independence and self-sufficiency; meeting food, clothing, health and shelter need; senior services and family support programs.

Support Affordable Housing:

Increase the availability of affordable housing, supportive and transitional housing; housing rehabilitation programs and first-time homebuyer initiatives.

Provide educational enrichment:

Give families and children the opportunity to attend mentoring programs, summer camp activities and parenting classes.

Annual CommunityFirst Grant

Annual CommunityFirst Grant applications are accepted from January 1st to March 31st.

To be eligible, organizations must:

  • Have nonprofit tax exempt status under section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Have programs located in Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Westport, Fairfield, or Bridgeport
  • Have community support
  • Address community needs
  • Have measureable outcomes
  • Demonstrates fiscal and administrative responsibility.

Annual FirstClass Grant Program for Teachers

FirstClass Grant Program for Teachers Application forms are accepted from September 1st to October 31st each year. Applications will not be accepted after October 31st. Eligibility criteria for the program includes:

  • Grades K-5 public school teachers working in the towns of Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport or Bridgeport.
  • Programs needing support must be creative educational programs related to subjects/curriculum taught and have a broad impact for an entire class/grade.
  • Requests for books, magazine subscriptions, school trips and electronics such as computers, tablets or mice are not eligible.
  • Examples of program types: Nature-based, astronomy, financial literacy, conservation and environmentally focused
  • Authorization from school principle is required
  • Maximum grant amount is $1,000
